Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect .(Romans 12:2)
Also, The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord (Isiah 61: 1,2)
NOTES:
Pastors of the various churches engaged in this ministry should have oversight over this ministry.
This ministry is open to all and should be seriously considered by all who need to be set free from the chains of worldly and otherworldly demands.
“Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free”. (John 8:32)
This ministry is not entered into without considerable prayer for the subject (the counselee).** As a rule of thumb try to fast at least one day a week for subjects and 3 days in a row once a month. This is not a formula but good practice.
This is not a replacement for any other ministry/program but must be in augment with all church programs.
Ministers must be called by God to do this ministry. It is a grueling ministry and requires much prayer and meditation. Those who have great empathy for the subjects and have a tendency to take problems home with them, probably should not get involved in ministering but should definitely be ministered to.
Prayer ministers probably should not minister to someone they are very familiar with. The Holy Spirit must be the Leader and the minister should not rely on past knowledge or experience. There are exceptions.
It is suggested that All church leadership go through the prayer ministry program before they enter into leadership.
Appointments should be made at least a week ahead of time (or more) in order to have adequate time for the ministers to pray/fast for the subject. Normally this ministry is not conducted on the spare-of-the-moment.
For training, as inner healing ministers, it is suggested:
◦ Read Derek Prince’s book Experiencing God’s Power
◦ Read Derek Prince’s book They Shall Expel Demons
◦ Read all you can by John and Paula Sanford, especially Transformation of the Inner Man
◦ Attend a training seminar on Spiritual Warfare and Prayer Ministry given by a well known teacher on the subject.
◦ Sit in as an intercessor in at least 3 prayer ministry sessions.
◦ No one ministers, as a prayer minister, who has not been ministered to first.
◦ All prayer ministers must be approved by the church Pastor’s.
Sessions:
◦ Involve a head minister, a backup minister and at least one intercessor. More intercessors may be used and they do not have to in the room where the sessions are being held.
◦ The head minister should be a female for a female subject and a male for a male subject.
◦ The intercessors may be either male or female.
◦ Sessions should not be formal but should be conducted in a relaxed atmosphere. Coffee or soda may be provided with cookies etc.
◦ This ministry is designed to be a one-time session only. They can last from one (1) to five (5) hours (there are exceptions).
Conflicts:
If there is a conflict, during the session, of an in interpretation of scriptures, among counselors or the process, it is never discussed it in front of the subject. Go outside to a secure area and then discuss the issue. If this is not done properly the subject will lose total faith in the ministers and in God’s anointing and the session is over.

Minister
Of this gospel, I was made a minister according to the gift of God’s grace, which was given me by the working of His power (Ephesians 3:7)
Note: Before proceeding with steps 4 through 7, steps 2 and 3 must be realized. Come back to steps 2 and 3 if something was left out.
Confession: Confess sin as sin (no rationalizing), per history above.
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. (James 5:16)
Pronounce Absolution:
If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained. (John 20: 23)
Perform Deliverance:
Not all deliverance involves the occult.
And in My name you will cast out demons… (Mark 16:17)
Address Occult issues: (This may be done first if found necessary) Keep to the history. Don’t introduce things that are not there! Be Prepared!
There shall not be found among you anyone … who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer. (Deuteronomy 18:10)
a. First – Bind the strong man first Mark 3:27; …no one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. Then indeed he may plunder his house
b. Perform deliverance
c. Do not rush. Take whatever time it takes
Renew memories:
Walk through the subject’s history again and take each issue, step by step Romans 12:2 … renewal of your mind… (see header on page one for full scripture). Pray for each memory showing how God’s was and is in control of all things. (Also, read my Blog on “What Does God Really Want”.
Heal the Body
a. Laying on of hands:
… He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them. (Luke 4:40)
b. Anointing with Oil:
Is any among you sick? … let them pray over him, anointing him with oil and pray a prayer of faith (James 5:14)
Closing
1. Close Occult Doors – This is a simple prayer augmenting deliverance and praying that any doors to occult that may have been opened through ministry, confession and deliverance will be closed and sealed with the Blood of Jesus
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and have not loved their life even unto death. (Revelation 12:11)
2. Pray that the ministers remain committed to the subject and do not retain knowledge obtained during the session (I do not suggest taking notes but if you did, give them to the subject to destroy. Note that the subject does not need to go away thinking that the minister knows all his/her dirty little secrets.
3. Make sure all sins are confessed and that you pronounced absolution
4. Pray for infilling (or refilling) of the Holy Spirit
5. Communion (have this prepared ahead of time) per 1 Corinthians 24 – 26
6. If the subject needs water baptism, do it now, if facilities are available, or schedule it as-soon-as-possible
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. (Matt 28: 19)
7. If the subject needs to go to another Counselor, Psychologist, Psychiatrist, etc., help the counseled to establish a connection.
Notes:
*This program is sometimes referred to as “Prayer Counseling”. I choose not to use the term “Counseling” because it has a legal connotation and in most cases a counselor must be licensed for that purpose. We are not Counselors but “Ministers” of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We on the other hand may or may not be a “Licensed” minister but we are called to minister by Jesus Christ Himself and licensing is not required for this purpose. On one occasion, I have had to testify in court on behalf of a subject and refrained from using the term “Counselor” for that reason.
**The “subject” is the counselee or person being ministered too. Because of *above this was thought to be a better term.
Enough said.
“Thy Words were found, and I did eat them; and Thy Word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by Thy name, O LORD God of hosts.” (Jeremiah 15:16)
